ffmpeg Scene Change Detector Examination

ffmpeg is a very versatile piece of software for working with video. At its core there are video filters, and one of these filters is called select. The select filter allows a user to only write certain frames that pass thresholds to the output, in other words you can pull out interesting pieces of video using a select filter. A common use of the select filter is to produce thumbnails for each scene in a video using a scene change detector.

On Shot Segmentation...

I've been reading a lot about shot segmentation. This is a great paper. Adaptive Threshold Video Shot Boundary Detection Algorithm Based on Progressive Bisection Strategy. It has been a bit tricky to implement in parts, I'm unsure of the ECR measure being of value but its quite fascinating to work with.

Experiences using Zencoder for Live Transcoding

During the past few months I've been able to work very closely with Zencoder for Live Transcoding for both NY Fashion Week and the AKC Championship show in December. Millions of viewers have watched these shows since they were live, and overall my experiences using Zencoder for video on demand and live transcoding has been pleasant. There are few difficulties still that have occurred.
